Pub of the Year (POTY) selection
Each year Gwent Camra selects two pubs from the Branch outlets to be nominated as Country and Town Pubs of the Year.
Whilst the main focus in choosing the winners is consistently good Beer quality, other factors are also taken into account. These include atmosphere and style, service, sympathy with CAMRA aims, and value for money.
Initially, a short list of 3 town and 3 country pubs is produced (invariably these will be in the current Good Beer Guide) as voted for by active Members. Note that any Member is entitled to vote at this stage - the Website will advise you when this is, and how to vote.
These 6 pubs are visited by 2 teams, preferably on the same day, and each person then completes a form, scoring each Pub out of 10 on each of the categories (Beer, Atmosphere etc.)
The forms for each category are then collated and the 2 winners decided.
We endeavour to make the process as open and unbiased as possible, and any Member is welcome to participate.
